Description & Inspiration

"Table for 1" reflects on the commodification of life in the modern world, where choices abound yet true fulfilment remains elusive.

The artist attempts to captures the essence of contemporary existence, where every aspect of life has become a transactional experience. From the clothes we wear to the places we travel, every decision becomes a transaction, reducing the richness of human experience to a series of checkboxes on a menu.

Amidst the abundance of choices, the £0.00 sign serves as a reminder of the emptiness that accompanies a life defined by material possessions and superficial desires. In the relentless pursuit of consumption, we risk losing sight of what truly matters: connection, meaning, and the fleeting beauty of the present moment.

"Table for 1" challenges viewers to contemplate the true cost of a life lived in pursuit of external validation and material wealth. It serves as a call to action, urging us to reclaim our humanity and rediscover the richness of experience that lies beyond the confines of the transactional mindset. In a world where everything is up for grabs, the most precious moments in life cannot be bought or sold—they must be savoured and cherished with the reverence they deserve.
